Johnston Fire Station # 4
Johnston, RI
Project completed October 2010
Fire Station #4's architecture is a modern simple, utilitarian design providing an efficient and economical solution to the project's program with a tight budget during harsh economic times. The Station is built on a 1.9 acre site, abutting wet lands. The design separates emergency areas from the support and sleeping quarters. The organization of the space was critical to provide direct ascension from both the living and sleeping quarters to the engine room. The building interior spaces will provide warmth and a sense of place for the firefighters. Modern architecture imagery is expressed with a timeless appeal. The Station includes: Apparatus bay, maintenance workshops, a workout room, turnout rear storage, decontamination area, shared and officer's quarters, day room, command center, & kitchen with eating area.
