Marian J. Mohr Memorial Library Johnston. RI This new State-of-the-Art Library Facility is the first new library built for the Town in 51 years replacing an inadequately and outdated facility. The project had been planned for over 10 years establishing TLA as the architectural firm. The TLA design team worked with the Administration and Library Board of Trustees on numerous programs that were all budget driven. Ten years of hard work and countless town presentations the Town Council unanimously approved the project and authorized the project to move forward for voter approval. A construction bond was placed on the Town ballot to gain approval, and was passed overwhelmingly. The building’s architecture is stream line and a utilitarian design providing an efficient and economical solution to the program. The exterior is constructed of polished architectural masonry units providing a low maintenance exterior embraced with vertical sections of a glazed curtain walls expressing the simple elements of the building while creating visual interest. (11,550 square feet)
